Our story still seems crazy to us, even today! We met back in 2013. I was living in Wilmington, Chris was living in his hometown of Auburn, NY. I had traveled up to the Finger Lakes for a summer trip with my best friend, who also happens to be Chris' cousin, Melana to meet her family and visit with some family of my own. At a Rouse party, we caught each other's attention pretty quickly. His goofy nature and contagious smile instantly made me feel right at home. We played games, laughed, told stories, and got to know each other very well in our short time together. Living in our separate corners of the East Coast for years to follow, we always kept in touch and shared life updates as they came, both the good & the bad. Any time I traveled to New York to visit family, we made sure to see each other and catch up, and then would go our separate ways again. In early 2018, I made the decision to leave Wilmington & come to New York for a while to work at my aunt's bridal shop in a small upstate village (where my dad was born and raised), about 35 miles West of Chris' hometown. I wasn't sure at the time if it would be a permanent move, or a temporary change. As always, I shared this big decision with Chris! He was excited, I was nervous. In October, he came to Wilmington to spend a week with me and meet my people, and from that week forward, the rest is history. We spent the following months as I was finishing up work in Wilmington on countless hours of FaceTime, multiple trips back and forth to spend weekends together, and lots of plans in the making. In May of 2019, Chris flew to NC, we loaded up a Penske truck with all of my belongings & fur babies, and off to NY we went. People thought we were crazy, and at times we probably did too, but we loved each other. We had for a long time. Five and a half years later, countless obstacles overcome, millions of memories made, and a lot of love shared, we can't wait to walk into this next chapter of life with our little family and our loved ones surrounding us! Cheers to 11 years in the making, and forever to come!
