Our story began one summer in Ocean City, where we both ended up working at the Reel Inn. Little did we know that this summer job would turn into something unforgettable. After long shifts, we’d unwind at Mother’s Cantina, a local bar, and soon we were chatting more and more, getting to know each other better with each passing week. Eventually, Jake gets up the nerve to ask Kaylee out on a proper date. He takes her out on his family’s boat for a day on the water—sounds like a dream, right? Well, of course, things didn’t go exactly as planned. On the way to the sandbar, the boat breaks down! Jake calls his parents for help, and soon enough, his whole family shows up to tow us back. Instead of a peaceful, romantic day on the water, we get a full-blown family rescue mission. Talk about a first date to remember! Fast forward six months, and just when everything starts to get serious, COVID hits. Jake’s in Ocean City, Kaylee’s in Montgomery County, but we don’t let the distance stop us. We take turns driving back and forth, and it doesn’t take long for us to realize we’re in this for the long haul. In the summer of 2020, Jake lands a job in Annandale, VA, which makes it much easier for us to see each other. By 2021, we’re officially living together in Arlington, VA. But city life? Definitely not for us. So, we make the bold decision to head back to Ocean City. We find new jobs, buy our first house, and start a whole new chapter right where it all began. Now, we’re beyond excited to spend the rest of our lives together—making memories, traveling to new places, and laughing our way through the adventure of a lifetime.
