Boy and Girl sit next to each other in science class freshman year of high school, experience some insane chemistry and fall in love (eventually). Classic love story right? If that’s all your looking for, no need to read any further, just RSVP yes to the wedding so we can dance our butts off with you. In 2009, Chloe and Sam attended Southwest Christian High School in Chaska, MN. Some people believe in love at first sight, it’s usually a combination of a million perfect little details, attractive people and a romantic setting. So here Chloe and Sam are, two awkward freshman kids in an old NordicTrack treadmill warehouse (yes, our high school was an old warehouse, romantic right?) that get assigned seats next to each other as desk buddies in science class. Who could’ve guessed that with that pairing it would not only last for freshman year….but for the rest of their two lives. #deskbuddies4lyfe Great relationships are rooted in the foundation of friendship with one another. While we did not date in high school, what we did accomplish was begin a deep friendship that would carry through to the current day. When Chloe was finishing up school, she visited Sam down at Iowa State where he was attending and after that visit, we both felt that this friendship was so much more. Chloe was graduating college and had accepted an internship down in the most magical place on earth….Orlando (lol Disney). With this on the horizon, Sam and Chloe begun dating (nothing like starting to date someone right before they move across the country)! We began dating in 2016, while Chloe was at Disney and Sam was still in school in Iowa. Much of our story is long distance dating (to anyone that is reading this…if you are in a long-distance relationship…write that person handwritten letters and send it to them in the mail. Trust me), we were apart from each other for almost 3 years. This time of our relationship was defined by weekend visits, sending letters to each other, phone calls that went too late into the night (Chloe hated Sam for not having an iPhone to facetime) and making time for each other even when we were states apart. After almost 3 years of this, Sam had enough. He needed to get back home to Minnesota for one reason alone….to be closer to the Minnesota Vikings. In 2019, after nearly 3 years of dating long distance…finally we were both back in the great state of Minnesota. Remember way back in the beginning of this story when I said love at first sight needs a romantic setting? Well Minnesota checks that box for the both of us (who doesn’t love 3 months of good weather and a ton of mosquitos?). Minnesota is where the both of us grew up, have family, began our friendship and where we could finally drop the “long-distance” classification of our relationship. The next 2 or so years of our relationship were defined by many cabin trips, concerts, nights trying new recipes, watching Harry Potter for the first time (it’s honestly not that great), learning new board games and just spending quality time with each other. It's a dangerous thing to spend so much quality time with someone. Next thing you know you will be waking up one day and say “I think I want to marry them” and then in a blink of an eye you are going ring shopping, anxiously trying to find the best time to propose then planning a wedding and honeymoon. That is exactly what happened! Sam woke up and said “ I think I want to marry her” but then dragged his butt and took a while to propose, but hey it’s a marathon not a sprint right? Chloe said yes and the rest is history. If you saw too many words and decided to skip to the end of our story, I’ll sum it up real quick for you. Sam fell in love with Chloe and Chloe fell in love with Sam. Sam dropped to a knee, Chloe said yes. On Oct 15th 2022, we are making it official and are incredibly excited to be celebrating with you. Love you desk buddy 😊
