From our first date to the one he asked me to be his girlfriend, we had yet to watch a movie in its entirety as a "couple" (yes, we know we were not official yet, but still.) We would start watching movies and then talk over them, eventually turning them off. It was sort of an inside joke between the two of us. However, Suffolk had this series of outdoor movies being screened that I thought would be so fun to go to. I mentioned the event, but with our busy schedules, I was not sure if we would get to attend one. On May 25th, Ashton surprised me with a date to see Space Jam at a park in Suffolk. We were watching the movie on our picnic blanket. The spring air was crisp, stars becoming visible. Just as we reached the climax of the film, the screen went black. Some kids had tampered with the screen and the event was cut short. Ashton was visibly upset, but I thought it was funny!! We went back to our cars and as I got in my car he told me had a surprise for me. I closed my eyes, and when I opened them again, Ashton had flowers and a pink gift bag in his hand. He had written me two cards, with the last one ending in the big question at the time, "Will you be my girlfriend?". Obviously, I had to say yes!!
