Pavan and Mae met during their freshman year at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as members of the Tar Heel Marching Band. Their story, however, truly began with Hurricane Matthew. Ever the procrastinator, Mae applied after the application deadline was extended due to the storm—if the hurricane had never passed through her hometown, they may never have met at all. Once on campus, amid a sea of clarinet players, they quickly found their way into the same circle of friends. Then, just as fate would have it, another hurricane (Hurricane Florence) again disrupted Mae’s plans and ultimately drew them closer. When she was unable to return home, Pavan offered Mae a place to stay, a simple act of kindness that changed everything. From that moment on, they were inseparable. Together, they discovered a love for trying new restaurants and coffee shops, exploring new places, and savoring everyday adventures side by side. Their bond grew through music, laughter, and a shared sense of humor that makes even the most ordinary moments feel special.
