When a swipe right turned into something special: We met on a dating app and decided to grab dinner at Cafe Havana in Commack just days after first chatting online. Our conversation and back-and-forth came so naturally, our senses of humor couldn't be more in-tune. We ate fried plantains and I laughed until my cheeks hurt, I knew immediately that it could be something special.
After yet another Spanish-inspired dinner at Besito in West Islip, we went back to our house to have a glass of wine on the dock. When I (finally) changed my shoes and made it outside, Christopher was waiting along with our families hiding in the neighbor's yard across the canal. Chris told me how much he loved our life together, couldn't imagine spending it with anyone else and asked if I would make him the happiest man in the world by being his wife--How do you say no to that?!? Our families jump out from their hiding spots, champagne was popped and our families and friends joined for hours of food and drinks, all topped off with a fireworks show. It was pure perfection.
