Our Love Story

A love story written from above cannot be altered by any man.

Where do I start from? The journey of meeting my beloved began in 2019 when I was pursuing my master's degree in Ohio, USA. I could not believe that I could fall in love again after a long wait of finding the right one. In 2019, I attended the maiden edition of the Annual Graduate Research Forum held by the University of Akron, Ohio. I took the opportunity to travel to Akron to participate in the event. It was at that event that I met a beautiful damsel seated at Robertson Hall taking her lunch. I noticed that she was alone. I told myself that I must grab this opportunity to build a good friendship with her. Something prompted me to get close to her to keep her company. I approached her and we started talking… We exchanged contact so that we could talk further. I traveled back to Oxford, Ohio to continue my studies. The Covid-19 pandemic emerged and disrupted my initial plan of meeting her officially for the first time. However, one morning whilst preparing to go and teach my students, the thought of checking in on Thelma came to my mind so, I called her to check-in. I can remember the exact date & year, 13th April 2021. Our conversation bounced back, and this time round intensified. There was never a day that I got bored. Oh my God, Thelma is interactive, and always willing to ask thought-provoking questions that inspire the conversation all the time. Since the day we became friends, she has never forgotten to share the LIVING BREAD with me every morning. Her calm demeanor and ability to reason with me on most discussions made me feel that she would be my missing but found rib. We got deeper into the friendship. Little did I know that the LORD has a plan for us. BRIDE TO BE: As I was busy with my books and getting ready for an exam, I heard my phone chime. It was Paul. At first, I told myself, “I am not going to respond now". But the more I focused on my books the more his messages kept popping in. The funny thing is I refused to put it on silence. Eventually, I gave up and decided to respond to him. Seconds turned into minutes, then minutes into hours, hours into days and here we are on our way to forever. He was so good at making good conversations. Fast forward, On the 13th of April, he asked me to be his fiancée. I told him; "well, I must put this into prayer first". (To my fellow Ghanaians, I was trying to "Kyer3 my ho". lol). But it was a serious matter too oo. He requested our first date, and when I said yes, without hesitation, he took a flight the next day from Ohio to Nashville. I brought him to church that night and introduced him to my father ( Papa Nicky). I can’t forget the excitement on his face when we came out of his office. 4 months after meeting for the first time he relocated to Canada to further his studies. We continued to Skype every day. which means we haven’t really been able to see each other, but we were still planning our wedding. GROOM TO BE: If I have to go on and on I will be writing a storybook. I leave you with this scripture, Proverbs 31:10 (AMPC) "A capable, intelligent, and virtuous woman—who is he who can find her? She is far more precious than jewels and her value is far above rubies or pearls". I'm more than excited to begin this “JOURNEY OF FOREVER” with the love of my life! So help us, God!

For all the days along the way
