An Arranged Marriage

From fourth grade to now

It's really hard to properly put into words my and Sydnee's relationship. It never was the traditional route but it has been everything I can imagine and even more. It's no secret I've had a crush on Sydnee since I was basically in kindergarten. But really it was Sydnee, though, who chased me aggressively and I was too oblivious to notice for a long time. Sydnee seemed to be at every single basketball game from the fourth grade through senior year constantly chasing me. My parents questioned whether or not I joined the track team only to spend more time with Sydnee...little did they know. We chose the long distance route in college with her going to Auburn and me to Samford. College days were never easy but it made us into the people we are today. If you know Sydnee, you know how stubborn she can be. You might also know how hard it is to surprise her. Imagine then trying to buy an engagement ring AND plan a proposal. In February of 2019, I started the ring buying process. Should have been easy, right? Unless she tracks your phone and you can't explain why you're randomly back in Huntsville. Or even better, you drive to Huntsville to ask her dad the important question and he bails on meeting you! The next month, I begged her to come with my friends on an RV trip in Colorado. But she insisted on going on a cruise with her Auburn friends. We finally reached a compromise and, by the grace of God, I was able to finally propose in Rocky Mountain National Park. Sydnee and I want to thank everyone, family and friends, in our life who have walked this journey with us. Thank you to all the group dates or third wheels. She challenges me, inspires me, and truly makes me a better person. Her heart for other people and for the Lord is truly contagious. Sydnee Brieann Baker, I'm so excited to spend the rest of my life with you wherever life takes us. P.S. I still can't remember our first kiss.

For all the days along the way
