Sarah's Side

How we met

We first met at the Napa Junior College and we were both on the basketball teams there. It was my first year playing and it was Paul's second year and since he was older I always thought he was this Mr. cool guy. I never talked to him because I thought he would never give me the time or day. One day my teammates and I were making a video and Paul saw us struggling with the camera so he asked if he could help... thats when it all started. We exchanged numbers and he talked about how good he was at editing videos. I didn't think anything of it until one day I was hanging out with my friend at her house and Paul texted me. He explained that he finished the video and THEN he asked if I wanted to go to the movies to see the new Pirates of the Caribbean. I don't think I have screamed louder in my entire life. My friends mom came running in the room thinking something was wrong. I was shocked that he would even consider hanging out with me let alone go on a date. Our actual first date we ended up going bowling and I was so nervous. I'm sorry Paul but it was the most awkward date that I had ever been on. I was of course the awkward one and then there was Paul singing on the top of his lungs to the radio as he drove me home. I remember after he dropped me off I thought to myself "man either he really likes me or he just really really loves to sing". Fast forward Six years later I laugh to myself thinking that I was ever nervous around Paul. He still sings like crazy but instead of me being awkward I sing along!

Paul's Side

Sarah and I met while playing basketball at the Napa Valley Junior college. It wasn’t a matter of love at 1st sight but more of a love that grew from similarities and commonalities. Sarah and I were naturally attracted to each other but didn’t have any classes together or an excuse to talk and become friends. After helping Sarah with a school project, i finally gained enough courage to ask her out to the movies that night. Work went a lot later than it was supposed to and I ended up having to reschedule to bowling, which actually worked out great because we had a much better chance to get to know each other. Sarah and I went on many dates that summer and it felt like the movie “grease” when the summer came to an end and I was heading off to school at UOP. Sarah and I kept in touch while I was a way and hung out every time I was back in town. She even came to a few Fraternity formal dances with me. Once I graduated and moved home we started to take things more serious...but then we ran into the same dilemma. Sarah was heading off to nursing school in a few months...Hesitant on asking her to be my girlfriend we skated around this awkward stage for a few weeks, not knowing where we stood. This was until Sarah was drunk on the 3rd of July 2013 during the fireworks at Silverado Country Club and said “Well are you going to ask me to be your girlfriend or not?”. I’ve always been a strong believer in the saying “Everything happens for a reason”. Even when you don’t particularly know the reason at the current time and place. Two angels played matchmaker once they met in heaven and i’m sure all of you would agree that Lynn and Kathy did a great job picking a life long companion for the 2 people they cared about most. Out of the ashes of the phoenix, new life, love, and happiness were created. Through the people they created, their souls will live on. Never underestimate the power one person holds, for influence spreads exponentially.
