This company allows for additional stops (with additional costs) for sightseeing if you want! If you can find other guests heading to Positano from Naples at the same time, you can split the costs, which we recommend.

Train

Circumvesuviana

The Circumvesuviana is a suburban train that can take you from Naples to Sorrento. Tickets cannot be bought in advance but it does run daily every hour. It's rough and tumble but cheap and will get you to Sorrento so you can ferry or grab a cab to Positano.

Train

Naples Bay Ferry

Take a ferry from Napoli to Sorrento and another from Sorrento to Positano. Tickets are about 15-30 Euros per ferry; you're cheapest option!

Travel Note

The Cheap but Long Way

You can train to Salerno from Naples really easily, then walk a few blocks to get on the ferry to Positano. This takes longer but is easy and cheap and, coincidentally, the way we traveled to Positano in 2018.

We stayed here and it is so lovely with an amazing patio. It's on the other side of the cliff from Villa San Giacomo, however, so it is a 30 minute walk or you can shuttle.

For all the days along the way
