Paul and Rachel met in the most 2018 way possible - on Bumble. Paul downloaded the app after moving to Newport Beach to find a pretty lady to show him around the area. Instead, he found Rachel, who had recently set her distance to 1 mile. Fate (and location) brought them together. Paul took Rachel hiking the next day for their first date and after 5 hours of hanging out, finally let her go home. Rachel couldn't believe that she found a Midwest guy in California with a great beard, new truck, and good dad jokes.

Paul proposed to Rachel during their trip to Italy. Paul had bought an enormous tripod to use for their camera, one of many Amazon purchases that Rachel did not approve of. They found a perfect spot at the Roman Forum to set it up where there were surprisingly no crowds. Paul started a video instead of the photo timer and surprised Rachel on one knee, capturing the moment he asked her to marry him (she said yes).
