Our StoryOur Story

We met in Twin lakes Wisconsin at Country Thunder on July 25th 2015. I offered Paul an ice cold Spotted Cow instead of the Kirkland Light he was drinking. Paul knew at that moment that I was not only a beer lover, but one that likes the bougie things in life. After having a beer or two, Paul hugged me and went back to the shuttle with his friends to go back to the hotel. As the shuttle was about to leave, Paul ran back off the shuttle to come back to my campsite with my two friends Emily and Annie. We hung out all night talking about our love for beer, country music (Old Dominion especially), baseball, lacrosse, and how we both were going to school downtown Chicago at the time. (Meant to be!!) Following Country Thunder, I went to Mexico with my family and Emily Howe’s family meanwhile Paul and I would talk on the phone almost every night and couldn’t stop talking. Soon after I got back home, Paul asked me on our first date and we went to Artisan 169 in Pewaukee, WI and enjoyed a great dinner together by the lake. We went on our second date at Cafe Benelux in Milwaukee before heading back to Chicago for college. During school we loved hanging out with our roommates, going to different sporting events, hanging out at the Ray, attending SigEp socials and formals, and of course our favorite college bars with friends, which there are probably too many to count.. but to name a few: Mcfaddens, Kelly’s, Homeslice, Barcocina, Happy Camper, Kincades, McGees, and Beaumonts. Paul graduated with his Bachelors in Operations Management from DePaul University, and Payton graduated with her Bachelors in Business Administration from Robert Morris University. After graduation, we moved to the West Loop and found some of our new favorite foodie spots like Girl and the Goat, The Dawson, Cruz Blanca, Cabra, Jefferson Tap, and Gene and Georgetti. Following a couple more years in the City, we moved to Warrenville, and have lived there since with our pup Finley. We’ve now found our new local spots like Markitos, Up North Ale House, Two Brothers, and Montri Thai that we can’t live without. Our TOP restaurant of all is now also the most special. Capri by Gigi (in Burr Ridge) is our favorite Italian spot, Paul views Capri as his benchmark for Italian food and to this date, he hasn’t found another place that lives up to Capri. On July 2nd, 2024, where I was anticipating another date night dinner at Capri, Paul surprised me with the most incredible proposal and a private dinner with our families after to celebrate our evening (of course followed by lemonciello and tiramisu). We could not be happier or more excited to get to celebrate our special day with you all and of course to spend the rest of our lives together making more & more memories! Payton & Paul
