His side: I met the most beautiful girl in the world, we became the best of friends, and fell in love...the end. Her side: I remember meeting Paulie at a soccer game when I was 12 years old. We played tag together and I knew instantly I wanted to be besties. After that I started high school at Rincon Valley Christian School and played on the girls soccer team. I choose the number 13 and turns out Paulie was that number in football. I knew who he was but it wasn't until the fall of sophomore year that I attended the Awana conference where Paulie's dad introduced us again at lunch and he sat across from me. After that we would say hi and talk sometimes after Awana and became friends. I invited him to the coast with some friends and me one day and he came! We ran down sand dunes and laughed and shared about our lives and I knew that night I had found my lifelong bestie. The next years were filled with much growth and highs and lows, but one thing remained consistent, and that is that the Lord had a perfect plan for us and as we steadily relied on Him, Paulie and I became better and better friends. He told me one day he liked me and I was more than excited to not only be besties but also to move closer to spending the rest of our lives together. Dating Paulie was an absolute dream as we went on a billion adventures, had crazy wild dance parties, tried new foods and visited new places, encouraged each other daily, constantly stood by each other and had each others back no matter what came, and laughed late into the night while counting shooting stars. I quickly knew that I wanted to spend the rest of my life like this, with my favorite person and bestie. Paulie is a constant encouragement and one of my greatest blessings, and the day he asked me to marry him was one of my favorite days ever! I couldn't have said yes any faster!
Paul flew home the day after Maggie's 21st birthday to surprise her with an elaborate surprise proposal at Lake Almanor with a celebration after. She was so surprised and exited to see her best friend after a month of Paul being in IL and Maggie in CA. Paul got down on one knee under two pine trees, with rose petals all around an hiding photographers, and Maggie shouted "yes!"
