We both played trivia at the same dive bar and our teams sat at tables next to each other for a few years. My team didn't lovvvvve Paul's team because they started showing up and winning a lot. But we'll never really know whose team was better! Eventually we all became trivia friends and I looked forward to seeing them every week. Paul was actually the last one I buddied up with because he was so quiet. We were both dating other people at the time so for awhile, it was just a weekly high five and some chit chat. Both of our relationships came to an end and I stopped going there for trivia. We kept in touch, chatting about music, movies, and craft beer. Soon enough we were talking everyday and I was really looking forward to it. Fast forward a few months and Paul invited me to meet up with him and some of the trivia guys at Fat Head's for lunch and I lit up as soon as he walked in the door. Later that night, I was at the Yorktown Lanes bar visiting a friend and he met me there. The rest is history and we say that drink at the bowling alley was our first date. It all started with a beer.
One of our favorite things to do is visit local breweries. One cold day, we went to Saucy Brew Works for beer and pizza. While he was in line getting us drinks, I got a text message. It was Paul saying, "You're awesome". I turned and he had a goofy grin on his face and he waved at me. I knew right then that I was falling for him. In November, we were supposed to stay in a cabin with friends but postponed due to Covid. I was bummed but we planned to stick around home and hit some breweries with other craft beer enthusiast pals. Later that night, our small group ended up at Saucy. Paul announced to the table, "Did you guys know that this is where Lacey told me she was falling for me?" and he dropped to one knee with the most beautiful ring I've ever seen. He said, "Now I hope you'll tell me something else. Will you marry me?". Of course I said YES and we celebrated with friends (and the VERY excited couple behind us). Afterwards, we went home, opened a bottle of champagne, and danced in our kitchen. It was the most perfect day ever.
