First Date
Katie and Paul's first date was at a Paint and Sip studio called Pinot's Palette. They enjoyed conversation between brush strokes. Speaking of brush strokes, Paul could not keep the paint off of his hands. Katie was gracious about his messiness and even complimented his painting skills (he knows her painting was better).
November 15, 2025
Second Date
Katie and Paul went to the Washington vs. Purdue football game. Katie is a graduate of Purdue, so it was great timing for the Boilermakers to play in Seattle. The Huskies beat the Boilermakers, but the date went wonderfully.

Third Date
Paul made Katie a steak dinner for their third date. He was pretty nervous while cooking but Katie said it turned out great. Katie also made an apple crumble for dessert which was delicious.

Fourth Date
Katie and Paul went bowling and to an Italian restaurant for dinner. Katie must have been a good luck charm, as Paul started the game with two straight turkey's and finished with the best score he's ever had (224). The Italian dinner afterward was wonderful. The food was almost as good as the conversation.

Fifth Date and Anniversary
Katie and Paul volunteered at her church for Thanksgiving. The church gives a Thanksgiving meal to those in the community that are in need. They continued to bond while cutting pies and serving them to guests. Katie also told a woman volunteering with them that she thinks she might marry Paul at a moment when he had stepped away. Later that day, Paul asked Katie to be his girlfriend.

Sixth Date
Katie and Paul went to see Zootopia 2. Katie is a big fan of Zootopia and was looking forward to seeing the new movie. Paul had to rewatch the first movie as "homework" to ensure he was ready. It was a fun time, and the couple walked around a Barnes and Noble and some other stores for a bit after.

Seventh Date
Katie and Paul went to an event called "Fantasy Lights" where guests drive through a park with Christmas lights and music playing. Afterward, they went to a cozy Italian restaurant for dinner.

Taylor Swift Ice Skating
Katie is a big Swiftie. She and Paul went to the Seattle Kraken practice facility for a Taylor Swift themed ice-skating event which happened to be on Swift's birthday. Neither Katie nor Paul were great skaters, but it was so much fun and both of them made a song request. Plus, they stopped at a McDonalds for fries afterward which was great.

I Love You
There is a restaurant very close to Katie's apartment called The Windmill Bistro. Katie and Paul enjoyed a great dinner that night. By the end of the evening, Paul told Katie that he thought he was falling in love with her. She agreed. So, Paul then went for it, and said, "I love you". She said "I love you too".
April 3, 2026
Engagement
Katie and Paul went to Katie's hometown in Indiana for Easter weekend. The two got to meet Katie's mom, aunt and uncle, some cousins, and her best friend. Since the 4th of November was their first date, Paul planned to propose on the 4th of April. However, Paul checked the weather and there was a high chance of rain on the 4th. He pivoted to the 3rd. Paul carried the ring around in a jacket all day even though the temperature got up to about 80 degrees. The couple got dinner with Katie's best friend Marisa that night before going to a hockey game. When at the arena, Katie went to the restroom which was Paul's chance to ask Marisa for help initiating a walk after the game to propose. After the game, there was a country singer that played a mini concert, and Paul could not concentrate because he was anxious to ask Katie to marry him. After the three left the arena, Paul suggested a walk to "get his steps in" and Marisa encouraged it. Katie agreed. The plan was to go walk by the river and find a spot to pop the question. Paul saw a tree with some lanterns on it and asked if the three could walk over to it. Katie said we could come back to it at the end of the walk. From there the walk turned into about a 40-minute stroll that included a brief time at a playground on some swings. The walk finally led back to that tree and Marisa helped capture the engagement.
