We met at a Michigan vs Michigan State tailgate that we both had mutual friends at. After hanging out most of the night our phones had died. We walked to the nearest Quality Dairy to buy a charger and charged our phones in the double decker McDonalds on Grand River. Roughly 6 weeks after that night we went on our first official date at The Earle in Ann Arbor. We never stopped hanging out from then on, no matter the distance!
A beautiful April weekend spent in Chicago was the perfect setting for our engagement. We stayed two nights at the Congress Plaza that has incredible views overlooking the city. Being early birds we were up at the crack of dawn and walked to the only restaurant open for breakfast that we could find. Afterwards we began strolling towards Navy Pier and found that we had it almost exclusively to ourselves. Save for a goose. As our big moment was playing out, a nearby mother goose was squawking aggressively. Being in the middle of something pretty important, we didn't relocate. Later figuring out that she had stowed her babies away in an unkempt flower planter that was apparently too close for comfort. Engagements are not often forgotten, but this one was memorable in multiple ways! A hand drawn rendition of our engagement setting was created after the fact by Paul and we have it neatly framed in our dining room to reflect on often.
