Once upon a time, a young woman began training to fight - an ancient fighting technique known as "kickboxing". Though Dana was shy and awkward, she was soon befriended by a young man, Paul, who worked as a trainer and took a particular interest in ensuring her training was more excruciating than the others. Along with extra burpees, and heavier weights, came jokes and laughter. Dana would meet his demands with a bratty attitude, that only made Paul push even more. As the training days progressed, Dana noticed that Paul would play her favorite music whenever she walked into the training grounds, though when called on it, he would never admit it was for her. "It's just the playlist they had up when I got here", he would remark, walking away but not without sparing a quick subtle glance over his shoulder at her. Dana would just roll her eyes and continue her training. Inevitably, Paul and Dana began communicating outside of their training sessions, which led to spending quite a bit of time together. As the bond continued to grow and take hold, their lives began to merge - a small apartment together, mutual friends, and the rescuing of two tiny, magical creatures, Harley and BMan. Despite this, Paul's hesitation was evident, and Dana's lack of conviction led to doubts and "what if"s, creating a wedge as dark forces began to push them apart. The seer saw the sadness and desperation in Dana's eyes and asked if she would like to strengthen the thread that bound them to ensure Paul would find his way back home. With her consent, the seer cast a spell protecting the thread, stating "make sure this is what you want, because once it is done, there is no undoing it". With skepticism, Dana left the seer and embarked on her own journey, unsure whether she would ever see Paul again...

Finally a message came through to him - "adding me back on instagram and can't even say happy birthday, huh?", flashed across his screen. Paul couldn't help but laugh to himself as Dana's standard brattiness opened their lines of communication. "You know I'm bad at these things", he responded. He began talking to her every day, and vowed he would never stop. They shared the tales of their quests, how they had overcome their challenges, and where they had ended up. Every tale that Dana told came with a warning, "I'm a villain now. Don't get too close", but Paul would never believe it. "It's a resignation of my fate", Dana stated sadly. "I think someone like you makes their own fate", replied Paul. It was in that moment, the threads of their bond began to strengthen. "I would like to take you to this ball", Paul said one day. Dana vehemently stated her opposition. "Just as friends", he continued to add to ease the venom that came from Dana as she rejected this offer. "Fine. But only because I've always wanted to go to a ball", Dana finally resigned, "but just as friends. Don't forget, I'm still a villain". "Sure. Of course", Paul smirked. The night of the ball arrived, Dana in a panic. Paul continued to assure her, "there's nothing to worry about. We're just friends". To ensure this fact, Dana introduced herself to every single individual at the ball as someone who was just here with her "ex boyfriend". Paul continued to be amused by her stubbornness and brattiness, and went along with whatever story she felt she needed to tell". Through hours of dancing and laughing, the magic continued to flow through both of them until it was undeniable that this was it. The threads of the bond were satisfied with their journeys and would forever refuse to break. Through merging into a home with six magical [and incredibly needy] creatures, pulling Dana out of her villain era and supporting her in the pursuit of her doctorate, and growing businesses, identities, and social circles, Dana and Paul continued to reflect on all that it took for them to get to this moment.
