We're Getting Married!

In the late fall of our sophomore year of the aerospace engineering program at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Callie and I were placed on the same project team for our ES 204: Dynamics course. Known as one of the more difficult courses in the program, we quickly found ourselves spending a lot of time together. Callie took an interest in my hobby of camping and we took a pseudo-impromptu trip to Sedona, Arizona for a night among the stars. We talked for hours and made memories that, unbeknownst to us, would be an integral piece of our growing friendship. As school projects came to an end, we feared that we would soon run out of excuses to see one another. At the end of the last work session for the final Dynamics project, we ended up spending the entire night sharing stories about our past adventures and our plans for those ahead. In the very early hours of the next morning, we found ourselves sitting above Watson Lake in Prescott, Arizona watching the sun rise over the water. Unspoken feelings became spoken and we left the lake feeling as though our whole world had changed for the better. In the months to follow, we ventured to Canada, spent a summer together in the Phoenix heat, trekked up the California coast, spent a summer apart at opposite ends of the west coast, and eventually found our way back to Sedona, Arizona. Exactly two years after our first trip to Sedona, in the exact same spot that we first looked at the stars together, I slipped a ring on to Callie’s hand and the two of us left that spot together forever. Following graduation in May 2020, we will spend 3 weeks fulfilling a lifelong dream of exploring Europe and meeting people from around the world to share stories and try new things. After this, we will begin careers in Redondo Beach, California at Northrop Grumman. Who knows what is to come, but we will brave whatever lies ahead, hand in hand.
