I was trying online dating and had plans to meet some Tarvo guy at Center City Park. The rain changed our first meeting from the park to The Historical Museum. We walked around the museum, I ran my mouth geeking out about Greensboro History. I soon found myself just talking cause this guy wasn't saying much of anything! We went through Voices of a City and I pointed out the things that I had a personal connection with he just walked along and said a few words here and there. I was pretty sure he was not into me but was too nice to say otherwise. The museum was hot as they had the old boiler heat on and roaring (I was also pretty sure my makeup is sweating down my face). We both decided we would be better off getting some rain-cooled air and headed outside. I wasn't sure if he wanted the date to end or not... so I suggested walking downtown and we ended up at Cheesecakes by Alex. We got drinks, I ran my mouth more, then my semi-narcoleptic self started drifting off (those that know me already know). I was mortified. As we were walking back I had decided this was a first and only date cause he didn't seem to be that into me and I had just showed my whole sleep thing. We got to my car, I waited to see if he said anything about another date or made a move... but nothing. So I extended my hand for a hand shake and got in my car and headed on home. I never thought there would be another date, but there were more and he even came to a party I hosted. And then we were dating.... so you can imagine my surprise when I realized our first date was the day Tarvo had to escape the plagues of Downtown....
So the museum was nice, I learned some cool things about Greensboro. It was a lot of walking but then she asks to walk some more! I had to just push through and so I agreed; we headed to the heart of downtown I was glad we stopped at the bakery. We talked some but she was drifting while talking, so we agreed to head on back. Once we ended up back at her car in the museum parking lot, she offers me her hand to shake, not even a church hug! She gets in her car and drives off, with me standing there waving good-bye as the rain starts to fall again. She didn't even offer to drop me off at my car, so I turned back the way we came and began to walk back to my car. The rain was failing in the largest drops you'd ever seen. It was raining cats and dogs! I tried to get to my car but suddenly there was a vicious, rabid pack of dogs that came for me. I used my old football moves to get away. I was so close to my car when I felt the pelting rain but this rain felt hard and man it hurt. I realized it was not rain, oh no, I was being pelted with acorns! The stealthy and mean squirrels had decided I was their target. Using my hands to defend my handsome face I kept pushing the several yards to my car. I finally got there, soaking wet, glasses all fogged up, traumatized from the dog and squirrel attacks. And to think I was pretty sure I was never gonna see her again...
