We're anticipating bright and sunny weather (or severe thunderstorms to be honest...) Such is Virginia weather. We are tentatively planning for an outdoor ceremony (~20 minutes), so light colors and hot/humid appropriate attire is highly recommended! Style: Semi-formal Ideas - Dresses, jumpsuits, slacks, dress shirts, vests should be good. Best to avoid jeans, shorts, etc. No pressure to wear suit jackets as it will be hot and humid! Color: There is no pressure to match the color style we have chosen for decoration. However, if you would prefer to do so for fun, our colors are on the purple (main color is lavender) side of the color wheel, with maybe some pinks and ivory, and our theme is rustic-ish and hiking/ mountain themed. Discounts: As Paula's dress came from David's Bridal, they offer online discounts to those in her wedding party. Just use her loyalty number at checkout: #8186676909

As Paula spent many hours convincing Phillip that a professional photographer was worth the cost, we (mainly she) have decided to make this an unplugged wedding ceremony to avoid cell phones getting caught in the professional shots.* When using cell phones just make sure our lovely photographer Heather is not behind you! Once Heather has completed edits and sent the pictures to us, we will make them available so that everyone will have access. Of note, Heather is also the owner of the venue, and keeps an online blog of the weddings she hosts. If you would prefer a photo of you is not published on her blog, please let us know. *Phillip would like to stress that this was Paula's idea, and any complaints should be directed to her
Phillip and Paula have opted to not have a religiously oriented ceremony, and our officiant will be one of the lovely staff members who works for our venue. However, some familial traditions that have religious origins will likely be incorporated into the event, less so for religious reasons, and more so for honoring our familial backgrounds.
We will be catering appetizers, drinks, buffet style dinner, and a s'mores bar! If you have any allergies or food restrictions, please let us know so we may accommodate. We are also building a child friendly menu for the kids in attendance.
This will be a small and intimate wedding (or a micro-wedding as the kids are calling it). Close family and staff from the venue will be in attendance, our current guest approximation is 25-35 people.
We're sorry in advance that the bride and groom have both been deemed as the most difficult people in the world to shop for. We are still in the process of putting together a registry to assist in gift shopping, please stay tuned! It will be posted to this website once it is ready We also appreciate any thoughtful gift ideas that you have that may not be found on our registry. We tried to include items on our registry that may inspire ideas in terms of the things we enjoy. To make things simpler, we also are more than happy to accept gift cards (amazon, target, visa/ master cards, trader joes, starbucks, etc.) If there are any questions or concerns please let us know!
While we met at Raven Rock near the Virginia/ West Virginia border, Shenendoah is where we had a couple of our first dates. It remains as our favorite mountain range
Phillip and Paula have decided to take each others' names as a combination, with hers as the middle name and his as the last name.
