We met through an online dating site where you had to pay to actually message people. I had just paid for a 6 month subscription, and Jarrod had just paid for a whole year. He was the first person to message me and I was only the second person he met face to face from the site. Guess it worked out well for both of us. Our first date was on Feb 17th, at Powell's book store. He bought us each a muffin and a coffee and then we had the brilliant idea to buy a book for each other to read. He chose The Forever War by Joe Haldeman for me and I chose My Sweet Audrina by V. C. Andrews for him. (I loved his book and ended up getting the rest of the trilogy. He hated mine. Oh well!). After that we walked around downtown for a bit. We were having such a good time together and neither of us wanted the date to end, so we decided to get lunch too. The gentleman that he is, he paid for that as well (also, because I had to sheepishly confess to him that I had only brought enough money to get by for the planned on part of the date). After the date I was all smiles and rainbows. He messaged me later that evening to tell me he had also had a great time and to set up our next date. The rest is history!
