On April 1st, 2014 LeeAnn arrived late to the first day of a medieval literature course at UCLA. There was only one seat left, and she had to climb over some guy’s desk to get to it, smacking him in the face with her backpack while doing so. That was Daniel. While “Medievalism and Middle-earth: Tolkien and the Middle Ages” was a great class (shoutout Professor Chism), it was not the only reason Daniel and LeeAnn began to look forward to Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. After weeks of walking and talking together after class, LeeAnn asked Daniel if he wanted to get some ice cream, which he did. However, because LeeAnn hadn’t specified getting ice cream and then ALSO sitting and talking together (it’s important to specify), Daniel walked away as soon as he had his oreo milkshake in hand. To make her intentions a little more obvious, LeeAnn flew to London the next Fall to visit Daniel while he was studying abroad. After graduation, they moved to Thailand together to teach English. A year after that, they moved back to LA to pursue careers in screenwriting. They decided to try writing a script together, just for fun, and they have been writing partners ever since. On February 19th, 2022 while on a walk in their favorite park, they heard the ringing bell of a nearby ice-cream cart. Daniel asked LeeAnn if she wanted to get some ice cream and ALSO spend the rest of their lives together (it’s important to specify).
