During Paul VI High School's freshman orientation in 2004, Patrick, Regina and their families just so happened to be standing next to each other in line. Their parents made small talk after finding out they were both Filipino. From there, it was history.

While vacationing in Hawaii to celebrate their 12th anniversary, Patrick and Regina decided to hike the Lanikai Pillbox trail to catch the sunrise on their first morning there. After hiking past the crowded pillboxes to the more secluded mountain ridges, Patrick knew that this was the perfect opportunity he had been waiting for. He got down on his knee and asked Regina to marry him. She was so caught off guard and was left speechless, but of course she said YES in the end.
