Oldest bar in the country -all candle lit, piano in the back and apparently Jean Lafitte the pirate used this place to run his smuggling business back in the day. Rumor has it his ghost is still there. Known for their Purple Drank.
Home of the hurricane (Ed Lynch recommends at least 2), very popular and touristy spot. Dueling piano bar inside is super fun, as well as a really pretty outside terrace with a neat fountain.

Next to Cafe Du Monde and across from Jackson Square, walk up the stars on the"Moon Walk". This gives you a great view of Jackson Square and the cathedral. Then turn toward the river and cross over the streetcar tracks for an up close of the Mississippi.
