Patrick and Mia met their senior year of high school at a friend's birthday party. Mia was quick to wonder who Patrick was as he was the only person there who went to a different school. Later that night, they were forced to pair up to play The Game of Life since all the others at the party were couples. A couple weeks later, their mutual friends were attempting to get them to go to winter formal together. While Patrick was quick to agree, Mia was very skeptical and did not want to go with Patrick as her date. So Mia agreed to go only if her friend agreed that Patrick would not be her date to the dance. Well it turns out her friend lied and Patrick thought they were going as each others dates. However, it didn't take long for Patrick and Mia to realize they liked each other. Patrick asked Mia out for their real first date that Valentine's Day!

Mia was working until 10pm that day so Patrick took the day to get all the last minute supplies he needed. On her way home, Patrick called Mia telling her not to enter her house when she got back home. So Mia sat in the freezing cold garage waiting for Patrick’s permission to enter. When she finally got permission to enter, Mia walked inside to a trail of pictures of the two of them put up throughout the house and each picture had a cute note below it. Mia followed the pictures into the kitchen and saw cookies were baking in the oven and her favorite lemonade and flowers were sitting on the counter. The last two pictures upstairs each came with a card detailing all the reasons Patrick loves Mia and why he wanted to spend forever with her. Eventually Mia followed the rest of the trail of pictures to the basement where Patrick had written out will you marry me and got down on one knee!
