Our Welcome Party on Friday night is "come as you are" - where what you're comfortable in! This is meant to be a casual evening for friends and family to meet, relax, and hang out before the wedding. Jeans are OK! The dress code for the wedding is "cocktail." Short dresses, long dresses, jump suits, suit, suit and tie are all appropriate.
Our wedding weekend events are spread out across Chicago, so where you stay depends on what you're looking for! I want to be near the Welcome Party on Friday night: The welcome party is in Logan Square, a neighborhood 15-20 minutes from downtown Chicago. Pat & Mairin's family will be staying in this area as well. Because there are very few hotels in this neighborhood, Airbnbs are the way to go if you want to stay in Logan Square. This area is about 15 minutes away from our wedding venue. I want to see the most of Chicago: if you're hoping to see the most of Chicago, we definitely recommend staying in one of our two hotel blocks: The AC Hotel (a Marriott hotel) or The Freehand Hotel in River North - use our "Where to Stay" page to book with our block link. These are both located in the heart of Chicago with easy access to great restaurants, the famous "Chicago Bean," The Art Museum, the river, and more. These hotels are both about 20 minutes away from the welcome party and 15 minutes away from the wedding venue. I want to be close to the wedding venue: our wedding is in an area of Chicago called "West Town." There are several hotel and Airbnb options right around our wedding venue (just search "Salvage One in Chicago"). If you have any other questions, feel free to ask us for tips!
We will provide transportation to the wedding from The AC Marriott and The Freehand Hotel. We are still arranging shuttle times, but will provide guests staying in these hotels with a shuttle schedule.
The weather in Chicago is always up to chance, but the averages for September 30 are between 60-70 degrees. If weather permits, we will be having an outdoor ceremony at the wedding venue.
For guests invited to bring a date, we either listed your date's name on the invitation or included "and guest" on your invitation. We will only be able accommodate guests listed on the invitation.
Yes!
For the welcome party, we will be providing light bites - appetizers and small desserts. Alcohol will be provided as well. For the wedding, we are doing a family style dinner - we will have options to accommodate any dietary restrictions, so please let us know in your RSVP if you have any food preferences. Reach out to us directly if you have any serious allergies and we will be sure to inform our caterer.
Please arrive at Salvage One by 5:15PM. Our ceremony will start promptly at 5:30PM. If weather permits, we will be holding the ceremony outside in the back of the venue.
While there is no parking on site, there is street parking available around our venue. For guests planning on consuming alcohol, we recommend using CTA or uber / lyft to get home safely after the wedding.
