Although everything on the menu is fabulous, our favorites are the desert crepes. If you can get something with their sweet vanilla cream you are even better off. Lydia used to spin crepes here back in the day as her first job so trust us on dessert. You have room.
If you like Thai food go here! If you don't know if you like Thai food, go here. You'll be a winner with anything on the menu. Get either a Thai Iced Tea or a Thai Coffee because that is what dreams are made of. Afterwards, you can burn off some of that sugar while walking around Main Street and checking out some of the shops. Particularly F. Oliver's Oils and Vinegars, Renaissance- Goodie II Shoppe, The Salvation Army (cuz thrifting), and Sweet Expressions.
This became a favorite for the yummy pub food, drinks and the ridiculously close proximity to Lydia's childhood home.
This place is filled with beauty and history. You can start with a wine tasting featuring Finger Lakes Wines or in the Gift Shop then take a stroll through the grounds and mansion for a relaxing afternoon.
A must-stop every time we visit in the summer: Scoops Ice Cream. Once you get your Ice Cream it is best enjoyed while walking along the lakefront hopping from rock to rock. There is also a playground and a beach nearby at Kershaw Park. Great for a day of chillin. If you crave some adrenaline with your cooling off, Roseland Waterpark is nearby to suit your needs.
Kershaw is a park is on the way from my parents home to the Canandaigua Country Club and if you’re looking for something to do that weekend this is a great stop. There is a nice path along the north shore of Canandaigua lake where you can walk, play on the playground and chill at some picnic tables. If you’re staying longer than just the 16th you may want to go to the beach at Kershaw. It is $5 per non resident adult to enter the beach area and it’s a nice hang.
Whether you want to swim in Canandaigua Lake or check out their hiking trails up the hill across the street this is a cool stop to get outside for a bit and catch some views of the gorgeous lake.
One of the best wineries in the area that Lydia happened to work at. We recommend doing the tour and tasting and finishing with a cheese plate on their front deck. One of the best views of Seneca Lake. Family favorite: The Unoaked Chardonnay! Other Wineries top of our list: Hermann J. Weimer - Known as a pioneer for viticulture since their founding in 1979 and for having some of the most acclaimed wine in the region. http://wiemer.com/ Anthony Road - Fantastic wines and one of the wineries that collaborate with Fox Run to make their Tierce Reisling. http://www.anthonyroadwine.com/ Belhurst Castle and Winery - Although the main motivation to go here is for the architecture this is a unique stop to make if you head towards Geneva. You can stay at this beautiful estate as they are a hotel too. Did we mention it's a castle? https://www.belhurst.com/
This is a bit more of a *hike* to get to (one hour from Canandaigua). But if you want to experience some of the real immersive beauty of nature go here. Bring water and some good walking shoes as the park has over 800 stone steps through the gorge. The town itself has a bunch of restaurants and cute shops to check out while down there too.
Stop in for a tasting of local beers! Pick up a growler for additional celebrating to be done over the weekend.
Canandaigua has its very own paddleboat available for cruises to catch the sights and fresh air on the lake.
This is a great venue for an outdoor show. Maybe there will be a good show while you're in town!
For first time New York visitors who plan some extra time into their visit. Niagara Falls in just under two hours away and is one of those bucket list destinations. The maid of the mist is where it's at, especially on a hot day.
About an hour from Canandaigua, this park features three major waterfalls and some hiking trails to catch the beauty.
