The place was St. Norbert College, De Pere, Wisconsin. The time was around early spring of 2014. To call it love at first sight may be a bit of an exaggeration. I call it love, Kyra called it infatuation. Either way, Kyra was indifferent toward me at the time. However, I was not easily deterred and was determined to make my presence and intentions known to Kyra, especially on those college weekends when the libations were flowing! Kyra was truly a hot commodity and was always in a relationship throughout our overlapping collegiate days. College came and went, and it seemed my unrequited love for Kyra would go unanswered. It was not until after college when Kyra reached out randomly over Facebook Messenger in the fall of 2016. I jumped at the opportunity! However, Kyra soon called it quits a few months later in January of 2017 before anything got too serious. I had to wait until fall of 2018 when we both attended a SNC homecoming football game to lay my eyes on the beautiful, magnetizing Kyra once more. The stars had aligned! After a day of drinking, it was at the Keweenaw Pub where I confessed my love for her. You know the old adage, “A drunken man’s words are a sober man’s thoughts.” Well, the night had ended and we went our separate ways. I laid it all on the line for seemingly nothing. Not so fast! A couple of weeks later Kyra texted me asking for clarification. She called me crazy for telling her, “I love you,” but not speaking to her again. We got to talking, and I may have invited myself to her SNC alumni basketball weekend a few months later.
It was March of 2019 at Burke’s Bar, my yearly St. Patrick’s Day party, when we made it official. We were dating! Two and a half years later and countless drives between Combined Locks and Elmhurst for the both of us, we still could not get enough of each other. On August 1st, 2021 in Salem, Massachusetts with the blessing of Dan and Neen and the help of her sisters, Ariana and Sabrina, I popped the question! By the end of that week, Kyra had seemingly the entire wedding planned and a date was set for December 31st, 2022, a New Year’s Eve to remember! So yes, it has not always been the smoothest ride to get to this point, but man was it worth it! Kyra and I have truly been blessed to have found each other. We cannot wait to celebrate our wedding with our families and closest friends. We are so lucky to have the support we do and thank everyone who has been a part of this journey with us. Thank you and God bless you all!
Pat truly has loved me for forever. College was unfortunately a disappointing time for him but I think it worked out just the way it was supposed to. I personally wasn't ready the first time......or the second time.....but third time's the charm I guess. He's the most patient and determined man I've ever met and I'm so thankful that he never gave up. It's been really hard and really exciting and he teaches me new things every day. He truly brings out the best in me, even if it's hard to find sometimes. I can't wait to marry him and share our day with everyone we love. xo, kyra
