What is the dress code?

Answer

Summer dresses and summer suits! Bright colors are encouraged. Semi-formal is probably the best fit, but please wear whatever makes you feel comfortable and confident!

What will parking be like at the ceremony?

Answer

We will have a valet service at Cistercian Abbey. After entering the gate, please make a right turn and go up the hill toward the abbey. The valet team will meet you and park your car for you at the bottom of the hill. Your car will be returned after the ceremony, and you can be on your way to the reception!

How do I get to the Texas Discovery Gardens from Cistercian Abbey?

Answer

We anticipate that there will be approximately a 20-30 minute drive between the two locations on Saturday afternoon. From southbound 75 or northbound I-45, exit at 2nd Ave Fair Park exit, stay to the right onto Robert B Cullum Blvd, you will pass Gate 5, then turn left at Gate 6, turn right and then right again into the TDG parking lot, cross the street and you’re at Texas Discovery Gardens. From eastbound I-30, exit at 1st Ave and stay to the right, at Parry Ave traffic light turn right, Parry turns into Robert B Cullum, you will pass Gate 5 and then at Gate 6 turn left and then right and right again into the TDG parking lot, cross the street and you’re at Texas Discovery Gardens.

What will parking be like at the reception?

Answer

You will be able to self-park in Lot 6B directly across from the Gardens. If you encounter any gate attendants, you can let them know you are attending a wedding at Texas Discovery Gardens, and you will be able to park for free. You will then walk along the path to the front entrance of the Gardens to get the party started for Cocktail Hour!

Will we be outdoors for the ceremony or reception?

Answer

We know it's a Texas August out here! We will be indoors at the Abbey and at the Hall at the Texas Discovery Gardens. You have the option of walking through the gardens or playing lawn games outside, but you are welcome to stay in the air conditioning the whole time too. During cocktail hour, you will have the ability to tour the beautiful Butterfly House, which is a bit humid, but is still indoors.
