Long story short, we were set up by a friend of mine from high school who happened to marry a friend of Patrick's from UF Law school (but go Noles!). After a few weeks of texting and getting to know each other, we decided to set up our first date. Thanks to Hurricane Irma, our first date was forced to be postponed. We moved the date to September 21, 2017 at Norwood's in New Smyrna Beach. This worked out better as we were able to celebrate the great news of Patrick passing the Bar exam earlier in the week, as well. Since then, we have been inseparable. Patrick concocted a story about how we were going to a "Spring Soiree" for the Federalist Society, a group for conservative attorneys that he is part of, to ensure I would be dressed and done up to my approval for such an occassion. However, I had a strong feeling that this would be it. That night, we set off for Park Ave to "meet friends" before the event. We parked and walked through the park to the rose garden. Patrick grabbed my hand and said, "darlin, I've been lying to you about everything that's going on tonight". If you know me at all, you will not be surprised by my response... I said, "I know" with a grin. After he was done laughing, Patrick continued on with sweet words and eventually got down on one knee. To end the night, we walked into a restaurant we frequented for date nights and were greeted by our immediate families, including my brother, sister-in-law, and oh-so-adored nephew who drove down from Gainesville. We were overjoyed to celebrate with those who mean the most to us; a perfect start to the rest of our lives!
