We were introduced at a friend's party and proceeded to talk on the couch for a good 4 hours. People walked by, arrived, left, and danced around us, but we didn't notice a thing - there was definitely a spark. We made plans to go on a date, but between the long distance and a series of events (fortunate and unfortunate alike), we didn't make it on a date for another 7 months! We've been inseparable ever since.

A couple months before the proposal, we found out I would be singing some concerts in Italy, so we made plans for Patrick to come hear my final performance. Later in Italy and before Patrick's arrival, my fellow singers all joked that my boyfriend would propose on this trip, so naturally I asked Patrick over FaceTime if this was his plan. Thankfully Patrick is more stealthy than me and with his best poker face, he told me we would become engaged "at some point in the future" and the topic was dropped. After reuniting in Italy, Patrick swept me off my feet with a proposal of marriage overlooking the Piazza Giacomo Matteotti (Greve in Chianti.) I was completely surprised and said "yes" immediately.
