See the 'Travel' page for more info. The welcome party will be at our house, Big Bend Homestead. The reception will be in the Ghost Town at La Posada Milagro. If you would like to be able to walk home from the reception try to find accommodations within the Ghost Town.
There will be events Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We suggest staying in town at least Friday-Monday. If you need to leave town on Sunday you can skip Boquillas or could easily come to Boquillas for lunch then head out from there. Maybe stopover in Marathon for a Sunday night stay at The Gage on your way home?
Cowboy cocktail, baby! Think cowboy boots instead of heels, bolos instead of bow ties. Fringe, denim, and a big ole Stetson are all welcome! You will be walking in dirt/gravel so boots are highly recommended. Put on your best western attire and let's party! Yes, all events will be outdoors. Check the weather before traveling but plan to bring a coat and plenty of extra layers!
In January temperatures average in the 60s during the day and 30s at night. When the sun is out on a 65 degree day in Terlingua the weather will feel perfect. Please be sure to bring cold weather gear and check the weather before traveling.
Yes! Children (including babies & toddlers) are welcome at all events. There will be loud music at the reception so plan accordingly. If your children need a seat/meal at dinner make sure they are listed on your RSVP. If you’re having any trouble RSVP-ing for them please contact us. If you are planning to come to Boquillas on Sunday please note that everyone, including babies, will need a valid passport. Please make sure all guests who will require a chair/food at the ceremony are accounted for in your RSVP.
Yes. Everyone will need a valid passport to travel to Boquillas with us on Sunday. More information regarding Boquillas can be found here: https://www.nps.gov/bibe/planyourvisit/visiting-boquillas.htm
Let's take a boat across the Rio Grande (cue Robert Earl Keen) and hang out in Mexico for the day. We will meet at Espresso y Poco Mas (just down the hill from the reception venue) for coffee and breakfast and then head to Mexico to keep the party rolling. We will cross the river by boat ($5/person) and then ride horseback, donkey, or in the back of a truck into town (small fee). Plan on lunch and cervezas with a river view. Boquillas is a very small town on the border of the Rio Grande. Bring plenty of cash for horse rides, souvenirs, and cervezas. Passports required! https://www.nps.gov/bibe/planyourvisit/visiting-boquillas.htm
We have chosen to have a small, intimate ceremony with our immediate family before the reception. We look forward to celebrating with you immediately after the ceremony! We hope you will respect our decision.
