Things To Do

Some recommendations are listed below! Feel free to check out the Estes Park Activities Calendar for local events happening during our wedding weekend: https://www.visitestespark.com/events-calendar/
Rocky Mountain National Park

Rocky Mountain National Park

CO

Rocky Mountain National Park is where rugged peaks, alpine lakes, and wildlife-filled meadows come together in some of the most breathtaking scenery in Colorado. Whether you’re hiking, taking a scenic drive, or just breathing in that crisp mountain air, it’s the kind of place that reminds you how big and beautiful the world can feel. You can drive through the park with multiple overlook points to stop and take photos. There are also plenty of hikes inside of the park that are stunning - please see our list of favorites below!

Sprague Lake Trail

Sprague Lake Trail

Sprague Lake Trail, CO 80517

Sprague Lake (easy hike): this is a nature trail surrounding a beautiful lake in Rocky Mountain National Park great for young families because the trail is short, well marked, and limited elevation gain. It is famous for its diverse wildlife and its scenic views with the mountains reflected in the lake creating great photo opportunities.

Bear Lake Trailhead

Bear Lake Trailhead

Bear Lake Road, Estes Park, CO 80517

Bear Lake Trail is easily one of the most popular spots in Rocky Mountain National Park. It serves as an access point to many beautiful hikes including the Bear Lake Loop (a great option for families with small children) as well as the Nymph/Dream/Emerald Lake trail listed below. Nymph, Dream, and Emerald Lakes (easy to moderate): This hike, likely the most popular in Rocky Mountain, is a beautiful hike that can be modified to suit any hiking ability. It starts as a gentle hike to the first alpine lake (Nymph lake) which is a short 1/2 mile trek and can be continued on to a total of a 6-mile (3-4 hour) hike with 720 ft of elevation gain. Please note! Given the popularity, we would recommend starting this hike early in the morning to avoid crowds (it's also your best time to see wildlife!). In the summer season, you will need an online reservation through RMNP website to access the Bear Lake Trailhead as well.

Sky Pond via Glacial Gorge Trail

Sky Pond via Glacial Gorge Trail

This is probably one of the most beautiful hikes in RMNP however also one of the most challenging ones. It’s an 8.6-mile out-and-back trail with an elevation gain of 1,771 feet. Start your journey at the Glacier Gorge Trailhead; along the way you will pass by stunning waterfalls and be stopped in your tracks by the vista views along the mountain range. You may just see some wildlife too as throughout most of the hike, you will be walking along Glacier Creek. Please give yourself ample time, water, and snacks if you are planning to take on this excursion!

The Stanley Hotel

The Stanley Hotel

333 East Wonderview Avenue, Estes Park, CO 80517

Whether you are staying with us at the Stanley or not - it is a must stop location in Estes Park. A historic hotel from 1909 and the inspiration of Stephen King's novel, The Shining, the hotel has a rich history that they tell through shows, concerts, and tours (both historic and paranormal tours!). They also offer unique whiskey tastings at their underground whiskey vault and have multiple dining options if you are looking for a upscale dinner with a view.

Restaurants We Recommend

The amazing views and the delicious foods make this a favorite among the locals for casual dining. They do not accept reservations, first-come, first-serve. Open for both lunch and dinner.
