In the beginning.... We first met way back in 2010 during a college program orientation meeting (Go Jags!) during our junior year in high school. We were from different schools and different backgrounds, so we didn't get to talk to each other very much until our senior year (come to find out later that we both "liked" each other the whole time). One day in school we started conversing and before we knew it.....we were dating. After many movie and dinner dates, we were determined to chase our dreams together into college. We applied to college together and decided on our future Alma Mater (twice, in fact) to be UT San Antonio. San Antonio.... Fast forward to the first day of dorm move-in. Fresh out of high school, and feeling intimidated by the change in scenery and being far from home, we struggled adjusting at first. But we had each other. After countless hours of studying and determination, we first earned our Bachelor's and then Master's degrees from UTSA. Towards the end of our journey at UTSA, we added a furry third member to our family. For those that know us (and admittedly even those we have never met before), you know that we adopted a cat in 2016 and named him after our favorite character from our favorite show in the world (Barney Stinson, How I met your Mother, respectively). He turned out to be a massive free-loader, but also very loving. After, Patrick started Optometry school at the University of the Incarnate Word, and Brenda has since started Physical Therapy school at Texas State.
After completing the majority of their schooling, it was time to get serious [insert serious face here]. It was the summer of 2018 when Patrick, who was sitting in the middle of his Glaucoma Lab at Optometry School, was frantically looking at hundreds of engagement rings online. After shopping around at various diamond stores in town, he found what looked to be the perfect ring for Brenda. Because Brenda has no sisters to ask for tips, and never gave any 'hints' as to what she likes, Patrick prayed he made the right choice. As the ring was being made over the course of a month (!), Patrick sneakily returned home to the RGV to talk with Brenda's parents and ask for their blessing. With his speech in hand, and nerves in check, he successfully obtained their blessing. After the ring was finally in his possession, Patrick found the perfect spot in downtown San Antonio to pop the question. With the venue secured, Patrick wrangled up their closest friends who could cherish this great memory with them. As the big day finally came, and after a nice dinner together, Patrick made an excuse to get Brenda downtown to pop the big question without her suspecting anything. They arrived at the venue, the elevator doors opened, and it slowly dawned on Brenda why they were there. The venue was decorated with pictures of them and as well as rose petals, and their favorite song was being played over the speaker system (shout out to their friends who helped out that night). After Patrick led Brenda to the rooftop patio, and grabbed the ring from a well-hidden spot, he asked for her hand in marriage and the rest is history because she said "YES". Pop the champagne!
