We met at a homeschool fieldtrip. We were about 10 years old at the time, but we still remember it vividly. We locked eyes on either side of the exhibit, and though we didn't know it yet, it was love at first sight. And thus began a long tale of "will they won't they," of dates and breakups, and of one wacky adventure where we met ourselves from another dimension (but that's a different story).
It was a beautiful, sunny day, so naturally we had a picnic. I was in my best sunday dress and patrick in his most dapper suit (he looks excellent in silk). After a delightful luncheon of exotic cuisine of the cuban isles (requiring a full day in preparation), we went on a stroll down to the pond. It was there, as I was gazing upon the water, that he took my hand in his and said "In vain I have struggled. It will not do. My feelings will not be repressed. You must allow me to tell you how ardently I admire and love you" (I knew already, but of course I couldn't have him believe I was too attached.) I looked away, waiting. He knew what he must do. He got on one knee, in the dirt, ruining the suit. From his pocket came a lovely diamond (real, of course. I could never abide by lab diamonds) and slid it on my finger. "Okay." I said, and we were engaged
