They met the Summer of Purple Rain (1984) through a mutual friend, Norman Jones! Patty had known Norman since Mann Jr High and Peter recently started working with Norman at McDonalds (yes, picture bright green polyester uniforms). They were part of a group of young adults from Lakewood, who loved music and dancing. They spent the summer watching free movies (Peter also worked at the theater) and dancing at clubs like Skoochies, Club Broadway, and yes, Mr. Lucky's on South Tacoma Way! Wearing sunglasses at night was the dress code. Peter was known for making great mixed tapes for his friends. So the romance started when he made Patty two special mixed tapes...and yes, she still has them. They dated during the summer, ending their brief courtship when Patty left to attend college in Ellensburg. Twenty-seven years later they reconnected through Facebook! Patty: "Hey Peter, Jeff Fowler said I should look you up on Facebook. I found you! How are you??? Write me. Patty.". Four months later Michael Lambert, through Jeff Fowler, tells Peter to check his Facebook because Patty had left a message. Finally, Peter replies: "Hi, Sorry I didn't reply sooner. I don't know how Facebook works. I only got it because of my kids.". Soon thereafter we met up at a local get-together for Lakes High School grads. There were lots of people to say hi to but eventually, Patty and Peter had a moment together where Patty gave him her number and they said good night. Feeling that feeling again, Peter texted Patty an hour or so later to let her know that it was wonderful seeing her. That was March of 2011 and they have been happily together ever since. FUN FACT: Peter said "I love you" first.
