They first met as freshman while living on the 4th floor of AP (Austin-Pickett) at Wilimington College of Ohio. Remained friends and would talk occasionally at different events and parties. Sharing college stories and experiences. Patrice even attended a few of Daniel's soccer games over the years. They parted ways after graduation but remained in contact off and on for over 10 years. Then one day after Patrice posted an inspirational post on Facebook, Daniel decided to private message Patrice some encouragement. The only successful DM slide that we know of...lol! After talking for months via the phone and text. Patrice decided to visit Daniel to see where the friendship would take them. After a first date and a Columbus Crew soccer game the friendship turned in a relationship. Daniel stood by Patrice's side during a difficult time in her life and the talks began to change about a future together.

Patrice always thought Daniel would propose while they were on vacation, in New Orleans (2018) and Las Vegas (2019) but it never happened. Then after a Secret Shop to look at engagement rings, Patrice truly thought Daniel would "pop the question" but couldn't figure out when. Daniel had took the day off to travel to Cincinnati, Ohio to pick up the ring and decorate their apartment. The bedroom decorated with balloons, streamers, flowers and a cake, Daniel was certain Patrice would continue her regular routine. Everyday, come home, use the bathroom and change clothes but unfortunately this day was different. Patrice came home from work and used the bathroom but didn't go into the bedroom. She was already dressed and focused on going on a date night to dinner and a movie. So Daniel had to think quick...he took Patrice's phone and went into the bedroom. Patrice trying to figure out what he was doing and didn't want him to find pictures of his Christmas presents, runs into the bedroom and finds Daniel on one knee. After a minute or two of saying, "Oh babe" Patrice said "YES!!!"
