ICONSIAM is one of Bangkok’s most beautiful shopping and dining spots along the Chao Phraya River, just across from our hotel. You can easily get there by taking the complimentary hotel boat shuttle across the river. The view at night is especially stunning with all the lights reflecting on the water. This area is also very special to us. It’s the neighborhood where Patra grew up.
Bangkok’s Chinatown, also known as Yaowarat, is about 10–15 minutes from The Salil Riverside Bangkok by taxi or tuk-tuk. It’s one of the most vibrant food areas in the city, especially in the evening when the streets fill with amazing street food. Many Chinese immigrants settled here generations ago when Bangkok became an important trading city, which is why the area is full of Chinese temples, gold shops, and traditional markets. If you love food and lively night markets, this is definitely a place worth visiting.
The Grand Palace and the Emerald Buddha Temple are two of the most famous and beautiful landmarks in Bangkok. They’re about 20–25 minutes from The Salil Riverside Bangkok by taxi or tuk-tuk, depending on traffic. The palace was once the official residence of the Thai kings, and the temple houses the Emerald Buddha, one of the most sacred images in Thailand. It’s best to visit during the daytime so you can see the incredible details, golden temples, and colorful architecture. It’s a truly stunning place and a great way to experience Thailand’s history and culture.
Visiting a floating market is a fun way to experience a traditional part of Thai culture. Vendors sell food, fruit, and local goods from small boats along the canals. The most famous one is Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, which is about 1.5 hours from The Salil Riverside Bangkok by car. Many visitors go in the morning, when the market is most lively. It’s a great place to try Thai street food, see local life along the canals, and take some unique photos.
