Patience and Jake met through a dating app. Jake lived in Vermont at the time and Patience in Nashville. Both of them were tired of the monotony of dating, but kept swiping until they lucked out :)

Patience went to Vermont to visit Jake several months after they met to make sure he was a real person and not a serial killer. Turns out the flannel and beard were not just props ;) Patience arrived in Vermont just in time for a massive snowfall! We went on a moonlit snowy walk and the rest is history.

Jake and Patience decided that in order to progress in their relationship they needed to be in the same city. So Jake quit his job, sold his home, and moved to Tennessee! He misses the beautiful Vermont scenery, but he'll still say that it was worth it ;)

Jake drove Patience up to her mother's home in Kentucky under the guise of spending a weekend with her. While distracted running errands with her mom, Jake set up a picnic on Backbone, an old family campground in the surrounding wilderness. After she returned home, Jake convinced Patience to go on a four-wheeling ride with him and they ended up at the picnic spot. He had pictures of them strung up between the trees and they walked through them on their way to the picnic table. He asked, she said yes, and now here we are!
