It all started with a Facebook message. In May 2018, Patience was working as a licensed sales agent when she got a message about life insurance for someone’s mother. The sender was Billey. With her schedule full, she confused him with another client and replied “ma’am” in the messages. Expecting to meet a woman, she was surprised when Billey opened the door. One date became many, and over seven years they blended their families, welcomed their son Mecca, became homeowners, and built a life together. There was just one thing left. She spent months guessing when a proposal might happen, unaware Billey already had a plan. On Christmas Day 2024, he handed her dinner reservations for March 29, 2025, at their favorite restaurant, Stoney River. She was sure it was the proposal—but Billey convinced her otherwise. She let it go and looked forward to a nice night out. Dinner was normal—until dessert. Instead of carrot cake, the waitress brought a ring. Patience had been right all along.
