The Haldi Ceremony is a vibrant pre-wedding ritual that will be held the day before the wedding. It's a fun and sacred event where turmeric paste (haldi) is applied to the bride and groom’s face, neck, hands, and feet by family and friends. Turmeric is believed to have cleansing, beautifying, and protective properties. It's also considered auspicious in Hindu traditions. Guests are encouraged to wear bright, festive, and comfortable clothing. Ideally, in the shades of yellow and orange. Indian attire while not required is encouraged! For women this can include lightweight Indo-Western wear and comfortable dresses. For men this can include kurta sets or semi-casual wear.
For the Hindu ceremony, we encourage guests to embrace the vibrant and colorful spirit of traditional Indian attire. Suggested Attire: Women: Sarees, lehengas, or Anarkali suits are perfect! If you prefer Western attire, opt for something colorful (think bold jewel tones). Men: Kurta pajamas or Sherwanis are great choices. If you’d rather wear a suit, choose one in a bright or warm color — and feel free to skip the tie! Some helpful tips: Comfortable shoes and lightweight fabrics are a plus, especially since there will be outdoor elements (weather permitting) and dancing. Don’t stress if you don’t have Indian clothes — we’re just happy to have you with us.
The dress code is semi-formal, black tie optional. The Catholic ceremony will take place outdoors (weather permitting) followed by an indoor reception. Please dress comfortably and respectfully for warm weather. Lightweight fabrics and breathable materials are encouraged — and don’t forget sunglasses or a fan if you’d like! Midi to long dresses are preferred for women, and suits are great options for men (ties optional). You do not need to change outfits between ceremonies, but if you'd like to, you’re more than welcome to!
If you’d like to change outfits, the best time to do so would be after lunch and before the Catholic Blessing Ceremony.
