The ceremoney will be a Traditional Catholic Latin Mass. If you have never been to a Latin Mass, or a Catholic Mass at all, no worries! We are excited that our wedding will be your first time! Here are some things to be aware of if this is your first Latin Mass: 1. They are a bit longer: Your average Mass (Novus Ordo) is around an hour long. This ceremony will last around an hour and a half. This is because there are more prayers, and readings from the Holy Bible than a modern Mass. 2. It will be in Latin: As the name suggests, the ceremony will be said in Latin; the historical language of the Roman Catholic Church. Don't speak Latin? Do not fret! We will be providing guides at the ceremony that will have the English translations of what is being said. The sermon will be in English as well as the Epistle and Gospel readings. 3. Kneeling: Given the length of the Mass, there is a long period of time that is spent kneeling. If for any reason you become tired, or in any way are uncomfortable with kneeling, please feel comfortable to sit back. 4. General participation in the Mass: We know that a large portion of our attendees are not Catholic, and we are so thankful to our friends and family for being there on our special day despite it not taking place in a familiar context. Please feel free to participate in the liturgy as much as you feel comfortable with. We do ask, however, that non-Catholics do not receive Communion.
