Our Story

It all started with a bit of luck in the fall of 2012. During her freshman year of college, Melissa was randomly paired with Tim’s twin sister, Tiffany, as her roommate. They quickly became close friends, and before long, Melissa was spending time with the whole family, Tim included. What started as a casual friendship built through family dinners and years of easy chemistry slowly grew into something deeper between Melissa and Tim. No one knew it at the time, but that random room assignment would change everything. Fast forward about five years to New Year’s Eve 2017. With the help of a little liquid courage, Tim finally asked his longtime crush, Melissa, to be his New Year’s kiss. To his surprise (and relief), she said yes. After that night, the two were inseparable. Their first date took them wandering around Naples, completely lost in conversation and in each other. As they strolled around they met a woman at a local bakery, now affectionately known as "the macaron lady”, who told them they made a cute married couple. In hindsight, she might’ve been onto something. Despite the instant connection, life had other plans. Melissa was heading to law school in Chicago, while Tim was wrapping up school himself and planning out his career post-grad. Unable to shake what they had begun building together before her move, Tim took the leap and also relocated to Chicago. On one of his visits before the move, he took Melissa to Lurie Garden to ask her something serious. “Are you about to propose?” she teased. He wasn’t, but he did finally ask her to be his girlfriend. Eight years, two cats, and a couple of apartments later, not much has changed. Melissa still laughs at Tim’s terrible jokes, and Tim still can’t get enough of her smile. They've grown together and built a life full of the things they love most, while still finding joy in the little routines of their every day. Their love story may have started with fireworks, but it’s the shared adventures and plenty of laughter along the way that keep it shining.
