We met through our mutual friend Stacy, whom I work with at CMF and who is Pat's customer at ATG. In early April 2019, Stacy had her Jeep at Pat’s shop and had to leave because I was delivering meals to her home. She mentioned something about a tall redhead, and Pat was intrigued. After he asked her for my name and looked me up on Facebook, he immediately recognized me from a dating app we both used at the time. Stacy told me the whole story when I came to her house that day. I was curious and looked him up and knew who he was from the dating app, too, so I went home and messaged him. We started communicating that day. Our first date was April 14, 2019. As some of you know, that’s my birthday, but I didn’t tell him that until we were halfway through our date. We spent the day on a long, very memorable motorcycle ride through the delta, and we've had many amazing adventures since. We can’t wait to have many more as husband and wife....
Pat and I spent October 24 to November 2 in Cancun, Mexico. We had been talking about getting married for a few months and had previously tossed around the idea of 2/22/22 as a fun wedding date. Taco Tuesday, an actual “Twosday,” second marriages. I had made sure to tell him on more than one occasion that I wanted a proposal. We joked around about it so much that I never really expected one. While we were in Mexico, he got down on one knee in the pool and in the ocean, but instead laughed and joked with me, as we often do. During our stay, we planned a trip to Chichen Itza, a temple a few hours away from our hotel. Homero, a private driver from the hotel travel desk, drove us to Chichen Itza and gave us a full tour of the area. While showing us El Castillo, the main temple, Pat saw the perfect opportunity and had me stand in front of El Castillo for a picture. When he realized there weren’t any people around me, he handed his phone to Homero and said something like, “Take pictures. I’m going to do something stupid.” Pat walked up to me cheese smiling, and we took a picture together. Then, he got down on one knee and asked if I would marry him. He presented me with a box that held the rings and a silver keychain, which was a calendar for the month of February with a heart around the 22nd and our names at the top. I was very moved by that. Of course, I said YES. I don't really remember much about the rest of the tour, but it was a wonderful day. We went to a cenote and had a traditional lunch there. The rest of the trip in Mexico was as an engaged couple. It was amazing.
