The Luau

Second Chances

Our story began years ago with a chance meeting at a mutual long-time friends’ housewarming “luau” and an end-of-evening campfire. Easy conversation over shared interests, life experiences, similar upbringings, and love of the Yankees led to a friendship over time, which included sharing more conversation, walks, adventures, laughter, dinners, and having fun enjoying each other's company. This friendship soon blossomed into a love that has grown over the years. (Pat) It is amazing to think of all the pieces that needed to fall into place, to allow Kevin and I to be at this “luau” at the same time. From our very first conversation near the fire that evening, I could sense his honesty and integrity. He is a man of strong faith and ethics, who loves his children and family unequivocally, and jumps in to help anywhere he is needed. He is my sounding board as he listens to my (at times very winding) stories, he is my voice of reason, my friend and my love. He is thoughtful, spontaneous, and fun, tolerates my many quirks, and as an added bonus, he makes me on time for family events! (Kevin) California Chrome was racing for history at Belmont Park. I was watching with my son and if Chrome wins the triple crown, we are going to celebrate. Chrome lost the race that June day, so there was no celebrating that evening. I decided to go to a friend's luau instead of going back to my apartment. It was at this luau I met Pat, who had left the party earlier, but decided to come back. We got to talking at the fire pit that night and discovered we had much in common and our paths in life took different but similar paths. Two weeks after the luau, Pat and I went on our first date to Detzi's Tavern in Wind Gap. Pat was a source of strength for me and restored my belief in people and love. She is the kindest most giving, and positive person you will ever meet. Always telling me "It will work out." Yes, it took us ten years to decide to make us official, but 'it worked out!!' We are so looking forward to celebrating with the people that are most special to us, our families and friends.
