It was April 2020 and the world was shutdown. We matched on the online dating app Bumble and connected over our mutual love of red wine, tacos, country music and hiking before having our "first date" via FaceTime in our childhood homes where we had both escaped to from the city. A couple weeks later we realized what we had was worth meeting up in person for: we got takeout tacos from La Calaca Feliz and Pat brought his famous homemade guac and his parents' homemade wine. The rest is history - a pandemic love story!
It was a beautiful Saturday in April and Kelli had decided earlier in the week she wanted to go hiking at Wissahickon and to the brewery after (a fan favorite activity). Having planned the day herself, she didn't have any inkling that it was anything other than a normal day. Meanwhile, it happened to be a trout fishing tournament that day, with fisherman occupying all the spots on the water where Pat planned to propose. He eventually found a private spot to sit, took a few sips of his beer before he gathered the courage, and told Kelli: "You're going to need to stand up" and "Do you know what's happening?" She said yes and learned both of their parents were coming for dinner at a local Italian BYOB. The best day ever!
