We can't remember the exact time we first met. We have known each other since the fourth and fifth grade. Patrick was a grade above Deserée. We remember seeing each other at recess, and playing against each other in kickball and dodgeball games. It could have been our competitive spirits that attracted us to one another. There were brief moments together growing up, even in high school, but we never created a friendship until after graduating college and moving back home to Washington. Patrick was the first to ask Des out on a date, and she accepted but was quick to friendzone him. Patrick never gave up and was determined to at least have a friendship with Des, if anything. Through persistency and getting to know each other better, Des realized the person Patrick was and she fell in love with him. What started out as an innocent friendship turned into a lifelong relationship. We feel as though God put us into each others lives at the perfect moments. Who would have thought we would be marrying someone who has been so close to home this whole time.
