Patrick was in his second year of medical school and Allison was only two months into her first year when they both were invited to a small Halloween pumpkin carving party at their mutual friend Sherilyn's house. After an innocent night of Halloween activities and good ol' fashion board games, both Allison and Patrick went back to their own separate but similar lives of studying, exercising and more studying. The next week Sherilyn arranged a group hike and "happened" to invite both Patrick and Allison (..maybe there was a little curiosity on Allison's part....) Needless to say after a few hours of small talk in the woods, the next week Patrick would invite Allison out on their first date. And I guess the rest you would say is history....

It was just supposed to be a weekend of R&R in Portland, Maine, but it turned into something much more. They had previously agreed to dog-sit Figaro, Allison's family dog, while her parents, Susan and Dan, were out of town. This weekend happened to be the weekend before Patrick took his medical board exams. So, after a morning full of studying on Patrick's part, he decided to join Allison on a late Saturday afternoon run. Upon returning from the run he suggested they take Figaro for a walk around the Portland Head Light, a historic lighthouse and park in Cape Elizabeth. Despite initially being reluctant, Allison agreed to the adventure, so in their sweaty running gear they drove down to the lighthouse. After a few minutes of walking around with Figaro and watching the sunset Patrick found a secluded spot and got down on one knee to ask Allison one very important question. Despite Figaro pulling at the leash and Allison momentarily losing all of her memory out of surprise, she replied a resounding "YES" to his proposal! Now 2.5 years later after a wild pandemic they are finally getting married!
