Updated Wedding Date & Location

Regretfully, we've decided to cancel our Nov. 5, 2020 wedding in Mexico in order to ensure the safety of our guests, during the COVID-19 pandemic. Thank you for your support and understanding. We are excited to announce that we will now be having our wedding at Icona Avalon in Avalon, NJ on Sunday, May 16, 2021. We hope to see you then! Laura & Matt

Engagement

...almost didn't happen

On the way to meet my Mom & sister, Kristen, at the movies one night, I had to pull over because a spider crawled close to my steering wheel (I am such a baby with bugs). After the movie, they asked if I wanted to go early to the beach and look for some beach stones for their patio. We frequently tried to meet up early at the beach in the summer, and so I agreed & went home. In the morning, I was supposed to pick up bagels and go to my mom & sister to pick them up, so we could head to the beach together. Well, when I got to my car, I freaked out about the spider and would up asking Matt to drive me. (Little did I know-he was supposed to rush out to the beach to surprise me.) Kris said that they'd just come get me, so Matt wouldn't have to come out. When they pulled up, Matt was helping me check my car by taking out each item & shaking it out. I hopped in the car with them & begged Matt to please make sure the spider was gone. It was chilly when we got to the beach, so I threw a sweatshirt over my cover-up. We walked around on the beach looking for those little white stones, but the tide wasn't cooperating. I was so focused on helping them scout for the rocks, that I hadn't even seen Matt approach. I looked up, & was surprised to see him, but I figured he'd decided to come after all & gave him a hug. That's when I saw Danielle with a camera & started to see the beautiful set-up a little up the beach. I asked Matt what was going on and said something like, "that's not for me, right?" He took me by the hand walked with me a little and then dropped down to propose. I was so surprised that after I said "yes!" I pretty much knocked him over before the ring was on. We enjoyed the beach while a few pictures were taken before meeting his family for brunch. Later, we saw friends & came back to Danielle's to celebrate. We got home to find balloons, signs, & a beautifully decorated living room courtesy of my wonderful family. We spent the rest of the weekend in Cape May.
