Oh, the story of us is definitely a modern fairytail. We met at a friends house in high school. Though he did get my number, we never actually talked, texted or went out. Snapchat won me over; Snapchat, movie nights, and the flowers I found on my car in the driveway before going back to school after Christmas break. New Years 2014, we kissed at midnight and began the first year of "us". Our first "real date" was Valentine's Day that year and we've been on this rollercoaster ever since. To this day, we've never officially started dating. Even buying and renovating a home together, rescuing and raising our two beautiful pups; I thought we were just friends until the proposal... ;)
I’d always thought Matt was a complex fellow, one unlikely to ever take a wife (#FriendsReference). Friends has always been my, my mom & sister’s favorite show. Matt is the only man I've ever met that understands the obsession and now we speak more in #FriendReferences than original words. We’ve seen every episode more times than I can count and there are two that never fail to bring me to tears - when Monica and Chandler get engaged and when Rachel “gets off the plane”. Matt spent months planning the most wonderful, and meaningful proposal I could imagine. On 06/24 (or season 6, episode 24) I walked into my home, lit with more candles than I’ve ever seen in one place and Matt on one knee. He gave his speech, he was crying, I started crying and he slid the most perfect ring on my finger. Then we got to celebrate with some of the most important people in our lives.
